The next thing you'll want to do is get as much reputation with each of the factions and vendors as you can, but don't level them up! The point here is that you'll be able to level them up right away once you get into Rise of Iron Lastly, stock up on armour materials, weapon materials, and Exotic shards as best you can. However, once you hit 200, you're not done yet! Store any Legendary items that you get into your Vault so that you can break then down later for more marks when you need them. This can be done by dismantling Legendary gear, going into the Daily and Weekly activities, and other such means.

You'll also want to get up to 200 Legendary Marks. It's a fast way to get glimmer through kills and items that you can turn in to the Cryptachs. Once all the Thralls are dead, kill yourself to wipe and redo it. Once the doors open and you've 'woken the Hive', kill them all, but don't go inside of the temple. Once there, use a Black Wax Idol to get glimmer from killing Hive. Collect Glimmer quickly by going into The Dark Beyond mission and fighting your way to the Temple of Crota. The first thing you're going to want to do is to get your currencies and materials as high as you can.

While many may just want to jump into the expansion and play it more slowly, you may want to get yourself nice and prepared for when it drops so that you can benefit the most from the changes.
